How much Vitamin E powder would I add into my dog treats to preserve them without overdoing?

I make homemade dog treats and I'm wondering how much to use to preserve the treats without being damaging to the dog.

This is definitely not a question to ask online. You really can't trust people on here. I mean someone could know the correct answer and accidentally type it out wrong and your dog's health would be in jeopardy.

Please ask your vet about this. I also suggest sticking it in the refrigerator.

ADD: By the way, where have you heard of using Vitamin E as a preservative? I've never heard that before. Do you just buy the little multivitamins and grind them or something? How much Vitamin E powder would I add into my dog treats to preserve them without overdoing?
Actually almost every natural, organic or hollistic dog treat has Vitamin E or Mixed Tocopherols as the preservative. I t helps prevent things like blueberries from oxidizing and creating mold. Report Abuse

As for how much to use, it depends on the dog and the size of the cookie batch. Contact a hollistic vet and they can tell you excatly how much to use. Report Abuse

It really depends on the size of the dog etc. Most homemade treats should be treated as any baked good, kept in the fridge and only used for about a week. You might want to check with a pet nutritionist to see if Vit E that you would have access to would work well as a preservative.
