what are the advantages of zinc plating vs. powder coating BRAKE ROTORS, and vice-versa in all-climate conditions (snow w/salt on roads, rain, hot summers, etc).
i've been trying to figure this one out for a while. some say zinc, others say powder coat. what about zinc-plated AND powder coating? would that be better?

First, do not coat the brake pad contact surface, that would reduce the required friction between the pad and the rotor. And that's a bad thing.
If you are looking to protect the remaining portion of the rotor, go with the zinc plating. Manufactures use zinc plating all over automobiles and often times will paint over the zinc. Powder coating won't take the heat a brake system will generate.Zinc plating vs. powder coating brake rotors?
hello. chose what the factory chose, don't go 'cute' on yourself with a newer idea.
No coating at all. They are designed to wear. Any coating is going to reduce braking efficiency.
